Hi folks,
Last class, we spent a bunch more time on those unbelievably exciting biological molecules! I know folks can't wait to do more with those, so your homework this week is to create flash cards of all 4 of the biological molecules and all the functional groups we went over in class. Use index cards and put the name of a group or molecule on one side and then draw the molecule on the other. I'd highly recommend using them to test yourself as well, since the next several quizzes will certainly have a bunch of those on there. You will have to draw the molecules or groups for the quiz. You'll also need to know what functional groups are associated with what biological molecule.
Also, using your new knowledge, see if you can find 3 things that would be a good representative of something containing lipids, something containing nucleic acids, something containing proteins and something containing carbohydrates. 3 things for each molecule so 12 things all together. These need to be things you can see/touch around you. (Hint…look in your fridge… :) )
